In Memory of Our Sweet Lucky D.U.

Lucky D.U. Sarantopulos

Born 9/14/93

Lost at Sea 04/04/06

He was a very special guy with a heart as big as a whale.  He loved everybody and could not understand

if you did not love him.  He was with us through many changes in our lives and was definitely a part

of our family and many other families.  He fostered many sons and daughters and it is our hope that

the families that have these children get to experience the love that Lucky gave to us.

He came up missing from our boat the morning of 4/04/06 while at anchor at Isla San Jose.

What promped him to slip overboard during the night we will never know.  We searched the complete bay

and shoreline and now assume that he became disoriented and drowned while trying to swim,

or maybe he felt that it was his time and this was the easiest way to go.

We will never know.  We only know that we miss him and that there is a great hole in our hearts.

Our hope for all the friends, family, and acquaintances of Lucky D. U. Sarantopulos

is that in your lifetime you will be able to experience the love of such a special friend.

Our heart goes out to you!
I shed tears reading  the sad news to Milton - which you shared with us so gently.
Yes, we were lucky to have him leave his paw prints on our hearts, and yes,

we know that things will never ever be the same for you -

we assume that if there is a heaven it's there to be re-united with loved ones again.
Grief, like the ocean comes in waves only to recede and come again. But with it comes healing.

Memories will wash ashore and bathed by the golden sun.

Grab hold of these memories and let them fill the emptyness. May they bring you peace!

Thinking of you,
Love, Eva and Milton

I sit here with tears in my eyes.

It was just a few days ago that we were playing on the beach and throwing dog toys into the water.

My heart aches for you both - and for Abbie who has lost her best friend.  I am so sorry.

Love, Liddy and Bill

I'm so sorry to hear such sad news. Lucky has been not only family and friend to you both, but, most recently, crew member, as well.

I know that the dynamics of your crew will change without him, which is how you will mss him the most.

I will remember his happy dog face with his always-dapper scarf, and his destructive wagging tail.

I send my thoughts and love, Judy

Lucky certainly was a special guy and will be missed by Rod and me as well.

I'd like to think he is swimming with the dolphins he loved so much.

You, Jeff and Abbie have a guardian angel watching out for you now.  We are so terribly sorry for your loss.

Please know that we understand the grief and loss that you are experiencing.  Our thoughts are with you.

I was so saddened to hear about Lucky. When our special friends leave us,

it feels as if they take a piece of our hearts with them... that we won't get it back until we rejoin them in heaven.

The truth is, having loved them, our hearts are even bigger. Lucky was a cool guy and he is missed.

We're keeping you all in our minds and hearts.  Ken
